Yoga: The supreme Truth

Yoga is a spiritual tradition that began in India about 5,000 years ago. Historically its practices have been adopted by such religions as Hinduism, Jainism, and Buddhism. However, the practice of yoga is compatible with any religion, as well as atheism.

The word yoga means union in Sanskrit. Many of the yoga traditions believe that the practices of yoga lead to union of a person with his or her true nature, or with God or the universe (however one wishes to conceptualize it). How this is interpreted and the means employed to get there differ in the various yoga traditions.

Patanjali, author of the classic yoga text, the Yoga Sutra, defined yoga as the quieting of the fluctuations of the mind. From a yogic perspective, the mind, and its ceaseless internal monologue, is the source of suffering. The various yoga practices serve to calm the mind. From a wellspring of relaxed concentration-the hallmark of yoga-comes inner peace, heightened creativity, and awareness of our essential nature.

Kriyas

Kriya literally means activities to purify the nine gates of consciousness . as it is clearly explained in hatha yoga that we won’t get any benefits from asana and pranayama without adapting deep physical cleansing in our lifestyle . Kriyas purify our stored old negative patterns that we have been storing in our body like the excellent way of cleansing our nasal passages by activities like “Jalaneti “ .

Bandhas:

Bandhas or locks play an important role in yoga practice by guiding the flow of energy towards the inner channels(nadies) in the body during asana and pranayama practice.

Yoga Nidra

literally means psychic sleep or yogic sleep, it’s the practice of pratyahara where we withdraw our senses towards ourself while keeping awareness of our body, mind and sensory organs. Where now a days we would not have proper sleep because of our stressfull thoughts and are unable to relax even during the sleep. here we emphasose to relax our entire body and mind and energy by connecting to our own stillness inside.

Bhakti yoga (Satsangs)

In bhakti yoga we draw heavily on cultivating and expressing love and devotion for deities in the hindu pantheon . The ecstatic experience of singing, chanting and satsang cultivates an atmosphere for emotional expression and healing while at the same time giving the practitioner an opportunity to set the stage for experiencing the divine within the self.

Raja Yoga Philosophy

While not denying the existence of facts which are difficult to explain through science and gently yet in no uncertain terms telling the superstitious different from existence of a higher being in the clouds the Raja yoga philosophy declares that each man is a conduit of an infinite ocean of knowledge and power and just as the desires and wants are in man so are the infinite magazine of supply from whence they are made manifest.
